We believe every child deserves the joy, confidence and friendship that comes from being in a band.
Pop Supernova was founded by James and Dan — two dads with primary school-age children who shared a simple but powerful belief: that music teaches children things a traditional classroom often can't.
They saw it with their own children. The shy child who found their voice on stage. The restless child who finally had an outlet. The child who struggled to fit in — until they found their band. Music was building confidence, friendships, resilience and self-belief in ways that went far beyond the notes on a page.
Their mission became clear: make that experience available to every child, in every primary school, regardless of background or ability.
A team built from real passion — for music, for children and for making a difference.
A musician for over 30 years, James has dedicated his life to the power of music. After a fulfilling career as a traditional music teacher — where he witnessed every day how music could unlock something in a child — he moved into business before deciding to combine both worlds. As a dad watching his own children grow up, he knew there was a better, bolder way to bring music into schools. Pop Supernova is the result of that conviction.
A dad of three with a teacher for a wife, Dan has always understood the power of getting education right. He saw that music wasn't just an extra-curricular — it was a vehicle for real child development. With a sharp commercial mind, Dan recognised that the best way to reach more children was to build something genuinely sustainable. He brings the business acumen that keeps Pop Supernova growing, while never losing sight of what matters most: giving every child the best possible experience.
With a strong background in education, Sarah ensures that everything Pop Supernova does is rooted in best practice for child development. She oversees our curriculum, coach training and the way we support children with additional needs — making sure every session is inclusive, structured and genuinely impactful.
Laura brings a wealth of experience across marketing and business development, and plays a central role in building the Pop Supernova brand and growing our school network. Her work ensures that the families and schools who would benefit most from our programme are the ones who hear about us.
We believe that music is one of the most powerful tools for child development — but for too many children, it remains out of reach. Traditional classroom settings don't work for every child. Some children need to do, to play, to create.
Pop Supernova exists to change that. By bringing small, structured, joyful band sessions into primary schools, we give every child — regardless of background, ability or experience — the chance to discover what music can do for them.
It isn't just about learning an instrument. It's about the child who stands a little taller after their first performance. The one who makes their first real friendship in a band. The one who finally finds something they're proud of.
No experience needed. Bursary places available. Music should never be a privilege.
Music builds confidence, focus, resilience, teamwork and self-expression — skills that shape children for life.
We understand what parents want because we are parents. That perspective shapes every decision we make.
All Pop Supernova Band Coaches are professional musicians with a genuine passion for working with children. They undergo full DBS checks, extensive training and ongoing regional support. Many are gigging musicians who bring real energy and authenticity into every session — because children can tell the difference.
